    • Summer Themed Memory Dex Cards

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Oct 21st

Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie and today I’m sharing a few Summer themed memory dex cards that I’ve created for my spinner to keep track of the birthdays in my life, be it family or friend. I’ve been struggling this year with sending out birthday cards… not sure if it’s just a 2020 thing, but I got to thinking that it sure would be handy to have a way to keep track of those birthdays in a more efficient way.

So I happened to have some Summer themed papers on my desk and I got to thinking that I’d just start with those!! I also had the new fabulous Barn Create-A-Dex die on my desk… so naturally, I used it!! I started by die cutting the stitched barn die from the pretty papers. I used a piece from the Strawberry Fields paper pad, the Rustic Watermelon paper pad, and the Golden Beach paper pad. And then I also pulled out my ephemera pieces… Strawberry Fields ephemera and Rustic Watermelon ephemera (looks like that is sold out). I didn’t have any Golden Beach ephemera so I just cut a bunch of images out of two different patterned papers. I just love how easy these cards came together.
      Let’s have a closer look…
I used a red card stock from my stash for the memory dex card base. I adhered the beautiful Strawberry Field patterned paper that I had die cut with the stitched barn die. Then I adhered the leaves and jam jar ephemera pieces. I popped up the strawberry ephemera piece with foam squares and then I just trimmed June from an old calendar set that I had from a couple of years ago. I mat it on the same red card stock and adhered it to the card. I wanted to add a bit of ribbon and decided to just punch a couple holes in the card and tie the bow through there… it was pretty easy. I’m going to die cut another piece of red card stock with the base die and adhere it to the back just to make the whole card a little more stable.
I also added a little Nuvo aqua shimmer to the strawberry ephemera piece. You can see a little bit of the sparkle in this photo.
For my July memory dex card, I die cut a base of black card stock and then adhered the pretty Rustic Watermelon patterned paper. I also die cut the red heart from that same paper (it’s the other side of the double sided patterned paper). I covered up the black hole with the cute ephemera pieces and the red patterned paper heart. I also punched a couple holes in the card and added a bit of white baker’s twine. And to finish this one off, I added a few white enamel dots… oh, and a little sparkle to the watermelon slice in the gnomes hand with the Nuvo aqua shimmer pen. I’m also going make this one a bit more sturdy by die cutting another black base.
And my last card… which just may be my favorite! My base for this one uses my all time favorite card stock… Tempting Turquoise. I adhered the pretty star fish patterned paper from the Golden Beach paper pad to the base and adhered the bikini, life preserver, and sunblock bottle directly to the card. I then popped up the flip flops and seashell. I mat ‘August’ with the same turquoise card stock and adhered it to the card.
I also added some shimmer to the flip flops and the seashell. I wish it showed up better in the photos. So now I have three memory dex cards done!! Woo hoo! I think I’ll do the Fall months using papers from the September 2020 FOTM Card Kit Orchards & Patches. I’ll try to remember to share them in the Scrapping for Less: Show & Share group. Well, that’s it for me this week! I’ll see you next Friday for my sneak peek of the new October kit!! You are going to love love love it!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,
      Crystal

      Happy Sneak Peek Week!

      Hi all!

Cardmaking Blonde bringing you a glimpse at one of the stamps in July’s Flavor of the Month card kit along with the sentiments on the stamp set as well. This image was perfect for making a one layer card! Since the majority of the content was so close together I only focused on shading in the larger areas like the ocean and the sky.

This month’s kit is called In The Tropics. If you want to be sure to get yours sign up for a subscription. The kit will reveal Saturday, July 25th at midnight EST. Should you choose to wait for the reveal get one in your cart as soon as you can before they’re gone!

Thanks for stopping in and I look forward to seeing your comment this weekend during our reveal hop.

      Just keep creating,

      Kim 🙂

    • Summer Floaties ~ Slimline Summer Girl Card

      Jul 10th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a super fun new release from Scrapping for Less… Summer Floaties stamp set and paper pad!! Oh my cuteness… this is such an adorable set and the papers coordinate perfectly!!
So… I’ve been on a bit of a Slimline kick! Lol… have you tried making one yet?! They are so fun! I love that extra bit of space to create with! I used a fun sketch from over at the Poetic Artistry blog, the current Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I did make my slimline card a little bigger than the one posted for the sketch… this one is the trendy size that measures 3-1/2 x 8-1/2″.
      Isn’t she just the cutest?!
I had so much fun coloring her in this sweet little scene. I used the following Copic markers:
      Skin / Glasses ~ E000, E01, E11, No, BV01, R00, R21
      Hair ~ E34, E51, E97
      Bikini / Hat ~ Y06, Y11, Y13, YG03, YG11, R14, R21, R32
      Pineapple / Drink ~ Y06, E25, YG03, YG11, YG63, N0, R0000, R14, R21, R32, YR15, YR68
      Umbrella / Blanket ~R00, R21, R32, C00, C1, B00, B02
      Sand / Water / Sky ~ E25, E33, BG000, BG01, B0000, B000
I wanted to jazz up the sentiment so I thought a copic colored sun would be fun! I used Y000, Y11, Y06, and Y15.
A sweet summer time slimline card! I hope you like it!

I have a little process video for this card. I hope you’ll check it out!
      Thanks for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,
      Crystal

    • Summer Floaties are Fabulous!

      Hello my crafty friends!

Kim from Cardmaking Blonde coming to you today with one of the cutest little sunbathers I’ve ever seen! SFL’s newest release is Summer Floaties! This release has a stamp set and paper pad and they go perfectly together. Of course they can be used separately but why would you want to?

While making this card I chose the watermelon paper because the little cutie is holding a slice of watermelon. The pool water you see is also from the paper pad and I used a pool die to cut out the shape. To create the border around the pool I used Nuvo Glitter Drops. The little cutie on her flamingo floatie is colored with Copic markers. She’s stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink so her features would be a bit softer. Heat embossed the sentiment with white detail embossing powder after prepping with some powder and using VersaMark.

This release is in limited supply so grab yours before they’re gone! Thank you so much for checking out the blog today and I hope you are in the middle of making a great Summer for you and your loved ones.

      Just keep creating,

      Kim 🙂

Good Morning and Happy Thursday fellow crafters!  Katie here from 2CrafyKaties to share with you a card using Kaisercraft “Wood Camping” Icons and Scrapping for Less Paper pack in collection #2 of this month’s FOTM kit!

      Here is what I created:

      First, I need to apologize.

      I’m Sorry.

Teresa and Kim have this AMAZING card kit and they pack in a TON of goodies and I have been playing safe.  I have not been using all the embellishment’s in the kit.  So, for my sneak I stepped out of my comfort zone and used the Kaisercraft “Wood Camping” Icon pieces.  I will admit that I scrap lifted the idea/layout from Stacy (here).  I also used a die that did NOT come in the kit.  Hurry and grab this kit because it’s ADORABLE!

      Here is what I used:
