    • A Farmhouse Spring Card Kit ~ Butterfly Stencil

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Apr 17th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a few more cards using the wonderful A Farmhouse Spring card kit from Scrapping for Less! I really wanted to play with the beautiful Butterfly Stencil that’s included in the Banana Split subscription… have you seen the lovely cards being created by the Design Team with this stencil?! So inspiring!! Mine was slightly delayed in arriving but now I have it and I couldn’t wait to play!!
What do you think?! Pretty cute cards if I do say so myself! I started by blending Picket Fence Distress ink over the stencil onto a card front of Spearmint, Cotton Candy, and Grapesicle card stock. I then die cut the card fronts with a few different rectangle dies in my stash… just to change things up so they weren’t all the same. I adhered those to white card bases from my stash.
And then I blended some Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink over a scrap of white card stock and die cut it with a circle die. I die cut three scalloped circles from the vellum paper… one for each card and then die cut three more scalloped circles from the Spearmint, Cotton Candy, and Grapesicle card stock.
I set all of those pieces aside and blended some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink over the Butterfly Stencil. It wasn’t quite the right shade of purple but I tried to keep it light and I think it works pretty well.
I then blended a few different green oxide inks and decided that Cracked Pistachio was the closest to coordinating with the Spearmint green. I die cut the purple butterflies and the green butterflies and then stamped the Hello Spring sentiment on each of the circles with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then adhered all of my circle layers.
Now at this point, I had decided on my design for the card but it needed something. I decided to add a banner strip of black card stock from my stash to make the sentiment pop just a bit more on the cards.
Here’s another look at the three cards together… I really love how they turned out! I hope you do too!
I have one more bonus card to share. When I was finishing up the trio of cards above, I had an idea for this card. It’s a pretty simple design. Just some ink blending with the same three colors I used on the first three cards, but I did mask some of the stencil so that the butterflies looked like they’d be flying out of the sentiment. The sentiment is from the Hello Spring stamp set and I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I had an extra piece of Cotton Candy card stock in my stash so I mat the main panel with that. I then adhered the panel to a white card base. And to finish it off, I added a few of the sequins that were also included in the Banana Split subscription.
I hope that I’ve inspired you to get inky with your card kit!! And if you don’t have this lovely card kit to play with, I believe that there are a few more left in the shop so go get one before they are all gone!! You will love it!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,
      Crystal

    • Collection 1 – How Many More Cards Did I Make? SFL FOTM March Card Kit

Posted at 7:00 am by Christine Patterson
      Apr 13th

Hello Everyone! I’m continuing to work with my SFL March FOTM Card Kit. Today I aimed for another 4 cards 1 mini collection and to my surprise… I made 6! The ephemera in this collection helped aid with many choices for card making!

This ephemera piece seemed a little big for the front of the card, so I lined the fence pieces with the bottom of the card base and trimmed off the excess. I also chose the 3 remaining floral ephemera pieces and tucked them behind the fence using Ranger Multi Matte Medium and foam adhesive. I did a little stamp surgery and trimmed the Hello Spring Sentiment from the florals around it so I would just have the sentiment. I stamped it with black ink and used a mini scallop oval die to cut the sentiment out and added it to the card with foam adhesive. I then added all the pink, matte enamel dots from the collection onto the front.

This card was simple – once I figured out what I wanted to do! I used some purple paper from my stash and die cut it with a scallop border die and added it between the 2 patterns of paper. I then added 2 lady bugs directly onto the card and the middle one is popped upon foam adhesive. I took another sentiment from the stamp set, stamped it with black Ink and die cut that with a mini scallop circle die.

I love, love, love this bunny paper. I took the larger piece I had cut and lined it up on the right of the card panel. I also used a scrap of the purple grid pattern paper to add to the left. I used this large ephemera piece as the focal point and adhered it with foam adhesive. The sentiment is another one from the stamp set, this time I used a fishtail sentiment banner die.

How lucky this bunny paper had these 2 pieces left – 1 from each color. I stamped the bunny image from the stamp set with blue ink that matches the card base and added dash lines around the circle. I stamped the sentiment “Hi” also from the stamp set and added a few more pink, matte enamel dots.

This card was one of my favorites. I stamped the bunny image with a light pink ink and I didn’t wiped the stamp very well after using the blue so it created this really pretty purple color! I then used more of the pink ink and added some flicks of ink onto that corner. I added the 2 pieces of pattern paper (the purple piece with foam adhesive) and stamped the Hello Spring sentiment next to the bunny!

This card came out way better than I thought when I first started! I had the triangle piece already trim that way so I added that to the card and worked around that. I found 3 scraps that I trimmed down to follow the top border and triangular piece below. I added another pink bunny (with traces of blue) onto a piece of white card stock that I cut with a mini scallop circle die AND I added the remaining 2 enamel dots!

SIX CARDS – I was able to create another 6 cards for a total of 7. I had a few small scraps left and the stamp set to add to my stash.

    • Bloom Wildly Collection ~ Live Simply

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Apr 10th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with one more look at the gorgeous Bloom Wildly Collection of the A Farmhouse Spring card kit! I am loving the Live Simply Bloom Wildly sentiment and how fast and easy it is to use in making a beautiful card!
For my card today I started with a scalloped rectangle of the pretty floral papers on a white card base from my stash. I then stamped one of the butterflies from the set several times on the vellum paper included in the card kit. I stamped it with Brutus Monroe Clear Embossing ink and heat embossed a fine white embossing powder being careful not to keep my heat tool in one place for too long and warp the vellum paper. I adhered the vellum layer to the card with PLUS vellum glue tape and then die cut the zigzag die (included in the Banana Split subscription) a few times from white card stock.
I adhered the zigzag die cuts across the card and set the card aside. I stamped the Live Simply image with Brutus Monroe Clear Embossing ink on Spearmint card stock and heat embossed an ultra fine white embossing powder. I then die cut the image with a scalloped circle die and popped it up with foam squares. I added a few sequins (included in the Banana Split subscription) to finish off the card… the perfect touch!
I just love the soft touch that the vellum layer gives the card… and those pretty butterflies add so much to the dimension. I hope you like this card as well, and that you’re inspired to use the vellum included in the A Farmhouse Spring card kit. If you have been busy getting inky with your card kit and you’re finding your card stock supplies getting low be sure to check out the A La Carte items in the SFL shop!! You can replenish your supply of card stock, pretty papers, and ephemera pieces!! And if you have not purchased a card kit yet, you are in luck!! There are still some in stock… be sure to snatch yours up quick before they are all gone!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky hugs,

    • 5 Cards using Collection 3 from SFL FOTM March Card Kit

Posted at 7:00 am by Christine Patterson
      Apr 6th

Hello Everyone! For today’s blog post , I chose to grab Collection 3 (my favorite from the March kit) and try to make 4 cards. I managed to make FIVE!!

My inspiration for this collection was “1 Sheet Wonder” cards. I started by taking the pattern paper I had left and trimming them down to a few different sizes. Here are the cards…

      Card 1 –

The pieces of pattern paper I have are not large enough to create a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel. I used the card base as a “mat” for the pattern paper and added one larger pieces and a small strip. I stamped the image from the stamp set with MFT Extreme Black Ink and cut with a circle die. I took a light blue card stock from my stash and used a mini scallop stitched die to cut a circle just a bit larger than the image and added that the the center of the pattern paper. I finished this card by adding a few sequins from the pack found in the Banana Split pack from this kit.

      Card 2 –

I arranged smaller pieces of pattern paper onto a card base and then die cut the greenery die three times to add to the card. I added Distress Ink to the die cuts (Peeled Paint and Gathered Twigs). I chose the sentiment “Follow your Dreams” found in the stamp set. I used the Quickie Glue Roller Pen to adhere these pieces to the card base. (This glue does require an extra minute or 2 to dry).

      Card 3 –

I used a longer piece of pattern paper and lined that up with the left side of the card. I then adhered a shorter, wider piece over the top. I trimmed a green pattern paper into a thin piece and used that between the 2 patterns. I did the same with the image on the front as I did in card one. I added that to the card with foam adhesive. This card was finished by adding 3 buttons from the pack of buttons that come from this kit to the upper left.

      Card 4 –

For this card, I took a piece of pattern paper that was approximately 3×6 and cut it in half. I added 1 piece to the left and 1 piece to the right. In the middle, I added the remainder of the green pattern paper. I then took a square piece and trimmed it just a little to sit in a diamond shape in the center of the card. In the center of that card, I added a small, square piece. In the center of that I added the “Follow your dreams” sentiment on a small, mini scallop stitched circle die cut. I finished this card by adding sequins to the card with Ranger Muti Medium Matte adhesive.

      Card 5 –

I call this the scraps of scraps card! I took a square card base that was from my stash and arranged the rest of the scraps. I used some thin peel off stickers from a previous card kit to add between the different patterns. I then added the image to the card in the same style as card 1 and added sequins.

    • A Farmhouse Spring Card Kit ~ Hello Spring Collection

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Apr 3rd
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a couple more cards using the sweet Hello Spring collection from the A Farmhouse Spring card kit. The sweet bunny stamp in this collection is seriously becoming a favorite of mine! I could stamp it all day long!
Isn’t it lovely in purple?! I did use my Stamp Platform and stamped it a couple of times with Winter Wisteria ink to get a nice crisp image. I kept the rest of the bunny white and decided to just die cut it with a circle die and kept that a nice clean white too. I love it!
I trimmed a couple of the pretty patterned papers and adhered them to a Whipped Cream card front that was adhered to a white card base from my stash. I adhered another piece of Whipped Cream card stock that I had stamped the sentiment on, also with Winter Wisteria ink. To finish off this simple card, I added a few of the enamel dots from the collection.
I have been loving the ephemera pieces included in the card kits lately and the pretty flowers in this one are just too lovely not to make the focus of this card. I trimmed down the border around the ephemera piece and then mat it with Grapesicle card stock. I then trimmed down some of the papers from the collection and mat them on Grapesicle card stock, as well. I adhered all of my layers to a white card base from my stash and then stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black ink. I die cut it with a banner die and then trimmed it and adhered it to the flower ephemera piece. To finish off this card, I popped up the big flower ephemera piece and added a few of the enamel dots.
I created these cards when I was playing around with my sneak peek ideas before the reveal of the card kit so I thought I would share all three cards together. If you’d like to check out my Sneak Peek card, you can do that here —> A Farmhouse Spring Card Kit Sneak Peek!
I hope that I’ve inspired you with a few ways to get inky with the new card kit and I’ll be back next Friday with more inspiration using the wonderful Bloom Wildly collection.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,
      Crystal
