    • Day 4: Sneak Peek | August Flavor of the Month Card Kit

Posted at 8:00 am by Stacy Tiedemann
      Aug 27th

Hi Everyone, it’s Stacy from CraftaholicMomma up on the Scrapping for Less blog with Day 4 of the new card kit sneak peeks.

Are you excited? I know I am. The papers and stamps in this kit are so “exotic” they’ll turn you into a Wild Animal!!

Today I used the stamp and papers from Collection Three. I also grab the sentiment from the Banana Split Stamp set.

I created the image by doing a lot of masking and stamping to create my little meerkat crowd. I used a cloud stencil and Distress Oxide inks to blend the background.

The handsome little meerkat down front was stamped on the pattern paper, fussy cut and paper pieced into position.

To help the sentiment stand out as well, I slid the paper off to the side a teeny bit and did a “ghost” stamp.

The big reveal with be this coming Saturday, at 12:00 am EST. If you’re interested in making sure one of these gorgeous kits has your name on be sure to sign up for a subscription (plus saves you even more $$) prior to 10:00 pm EST Friday night.

Use the hashtag #sflFOTMexoticanimals on your social media using this card kit and we will select one lucky winner to feature their project on Scrapping for Less’ social media.

    • It’s Sneak Peek Time!!

Hello there crafty friends! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie sharing a sneak peek of the new August 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit… and I hope that you are prepared for another amazing card kit!! I am always in awe of the fabulous kits that Kim and Teresa put together for us to create with… so awesome!

One of my favorite collections in this month’s card kit includes this fabulous bird stamp and let me tell you… the papers in this gorgeous kit are Drop. Dead. Gorgeous!! I literally didn’t want to cut into them… lol… so I opted to use these beautiful foiled tags and a few other embellishments from the kit!! I did, however, cut into the papers and you’ll see what I created on Saturday when the kit is revealed and our hop is live!!!! Eeeep!! You’re going to love it!!

Back to these beautiful tags though… I had so much fun coloring this bird!! I stamped the bird twice on each tag and then again on scrap pieces of white card stock. I used the following copics for this tag ~ B0000, B00, B14, B24, YR0000, YR21, YR24, E0000, E00, E41, E43.

I also added some white gel pen to the eyes. I fussy cut the birds out and colored the edges of the fussy cut birds black with my Memento tuxedo black marker and then I adhered them to the tags. For the pink bird I used the following copic markers ~ RV0000, RV10, RV63, YR0000, YR21, YR24, E0000, E000, E41, E43.

I stamped the sentiment from the same collection omitting a portion of the sentiment (you can see a tiny bit of the omitted sentiment on the pink tag, but I’ll clean that up later with a sand eraser). I then added a strip of pretty gold glitter paper and then adhered the paper flowers. My final touch is some gold organza ribbon and twine jute… both from my stash (not included in the kit). Love how these turned out and I sure hope you’ve liked them too!

Be sure to use the hashtag #SFLFOTMexoticanimals when posting your creations using the new August 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit!! I can’t wait to see your creations using this month’s kit!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See ya next time.

      Inky Hugs,

      Crystal

    • Lawn Fawn ~ Critters Down Under

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Aug 17th

Hello there! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a sweet baby card using the adorable Critters Down Under stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I couldn’t resist also using the Kraft & Gold cardstock stack from DCWV again… love these papers!!

My card design today uses the fabulous sketch over at Mojo Monday Sketch challenge 520… only I turned the sketch on the side and moved the sentiment up to make my design work. I do love a good sketch! And this one was perfect for my card today!

Along with the fun Kraft & Gold papers I used the Fall Breeze papers from Photo Play… they coordinated beautifully! Since I knew I was doing a baby card, I chose the foiled hearts paper to adhere to my card base. I then used the Fall Breeze patterned papers and mat them on Lost Lagoon card stock from my stash. I die cut a cross stitched circle using the Large Cross Stitched Circle dies from Lawn Fawn and built my scene of stamped and colored images on the circle.

Here’s a close up of the little scene I created. I used the following Copic markers for my card:

      Platypus ~ BG000, BG70, BG72, BG75, YR15, YR16, YR21, E55, E57

      Tree ~ E55, E57, E59, YG11, G24, G99

      Egg ~ YR21, YR30, BG72, BG75

I had so much fun with this sketch that I decided to do a second card…

This time I kept the sketch upright and used the sweet Koala Doodlepop for my focal image. I used Dark Chocolate and New Leaf card stock for my layers and of course, I had to use a bit more of the fabulous Kraft & Gold papers!! The sentiment is actually from the Critters Down Under set, however, it actually says ‘hoppy birthday’ so I changed the ‘o’ into an ‘a’ just using my Memento tuxedo black marker. Easy peasy!!

In the close up photo you can really see that beautiful shine in the gold foil stripes of the paper! Love it! Well, that’s it for me today… I sure hope that you’ve enjoyed my cards for today!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my DT blog post! See ya next time.

      Inky Hugs,

      Crystal

    • Let’s Party with Avery Elle’s Peek-A-Boo Pals!

Posted at 9:00 am by Kimberly Smith
      Aug 16th

      Hey everyone!

It’s Kim again. I am here today with some super cute critters from Avery Elle. I don’t fussy cut too often but when I do I really go for it! ( I had little hands and heads all over my desk.) I stamped everyone in Gina K Designs amalgam black ink then colored them using my copics. I realize as I am telling you all about this that I didn’t think to make note of the colors I used (forehead slap). Sorry about that I will do my best to get that down in the future. (This is how we learn, right?)

      sflblog8162019b

QUICK TIP: When placing multiple items on a card it can be useful to lay all the elements out the way you want them before glueing anything down and ALSO taking a quick pic once you get it all how you want it so you don’t have to try to remember what you just did. (Learn from me people!)

      sflblog8162019

I wanted them all to be peeking out of something so I used an Avery Elle die I had in my stash that put a hole in the center for me. Used paper from Bo Bunny’s Natural Necessities paper pad and got everything adhered down with some liquid glue. Dotted their eyes and the koala’s nose with a black glaze pen to make them shiny. So excited to use Scrapping For Less’ “hooray” die at the bottom of the card as a big sentiment! Then stamped the “Let’s Party” which came in the Avery Elle Peek-A-Boo Pals stamp set in Versafine black onyx ink. This stamp set was a lot of fun and I really liked having their little paws to place separately.

Thank you so much for stopping in and checking out this card! I hope you take some time for yourself and get crafty.

      Keep on crafting,

    • Longing to See You Giraffe | In the Wild

Posted at 8:10 am by Stacy Tiedemann
      Aug 13th

Hello my friends! It’s Stacy here from CraftaholicMomma up today on the Scrapping for Less blog. Today I have a card for you using the Stampendous Giraffe stamp and die combo set. There are two things that I really like about this set. One, you can take the background die and use it with any stamp you have in your collection to make a tree scene. You can make it like the safari I made here, or you could use it as a meadow tree or Halloween dead tree just by changing up the colors of card stock you cut. Two, the giraffe set is so cute and versatile. You could mirror stamp a second one and entwine their necks around each other for an adorable love you card. There’s just so much you can do with it!!

I masked off the card layer with a circle die and masking paper. I used blending brushes and Distress Oxide inks to create the horizon and safari sky. I die cut the tree with black card stock and made it into a frame with a second circle die from my stash. I adhered this over the inked background with liquid adhesive. I stamped, die cut and colored the giraffe with Copic Markers. Stamping the sentiment and popping the giraffe and card layer up on foam adhesive finished it off nicely.

I think it fits in nicely with this month’s theme of “In the Wild”. I would love to go on an African safari someday. I just LOVE giraffes and elephants!

    • You’re My Favorite to Hang With

Posted at 8:00 am by Lynnea Hollendonner
      Aug 11th

Hey, everyone! I love that “In the Wild” is August’s theme at Scrapping for Less! Get ready for lots of cute critter projects from myself and the rest of the design team! Today I used a set of dies to create a faux cover die look! Super easy and looks great! Find more on my blog!

      Hang Out

Are you anything like me? – I have so much colored cardstock in my craft room! I’ve made a promise to myself to start using it! I decided to make a faux coverplate background using the Jungle Leaves dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I do this all the time – it’s super easy! I grabbed two colors of green cardstock – a light green for the background and a mid green for all of my die cutting. I used the curved vine from the Jungle Leaves die set and cut it multiple times from the mid green cardstock. Then I glued all the little vines onto the lighter green cardstock to create my leafy vine background.

      Hang Out 2

The sloths in the LaLa Land Crafts Take it Sloth stamp set are just too cute! I stamped one hanging from a branch onto heavy weight cardstock and colored him with my alcohol markers. I used my scissors to trim around the image and added it to the right side of my background so it looks like the sloth is hanging off the side of my card.

      Hang Out 3

I stamped a coordinating sentiment in green ink and trimmed the edges of the sentiment strip to banner ends and added it towards the center of my card. I have a video tutorial for this card below!

    • Hero Arts ~ Fennec the Fox

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Aug 10th

Hello there crafty friends! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a fun CAS card using the sweet Fennec the Fox stamp set by Hero Arts!

How sweet is that face?! I just love that little grin! This was such a fun stamp to color! I kept the coloring on the fox pretty simple but used a good handful for the little flowers.

I used the following Copic markers on this card:

      Fox ~ E0000, E000, E21, R00

      Flowers ~ V0000, V06, V09, V12, Y06, YR21, YG00, YG03, YG63

My design was inspired by a challenge in a Facebook group that I am a member in called Paper Craft Artist. I just loved the CAS sketch and have been itching to play along. Once my images were colored, I fussy cut them out and touched up the edges with my Memento tuxedo black marker. I set them aside and grabbed the Kraft & Gold cardstock stack by DCWV.  I just had to pair this sweet grinning fox with the heart papers… too cute together!!

I used the solid kraft paper for my base layer that I adhered to a A2 Vintage Cream card base and then I added a layer of Vintage Cream card stock measuring 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″. I die cut the heart foiled paper using a standard circle die and adhered it to my card.

I wanted to add some more purple into the card so I trimmed a 1/4″ strip of Elegant Eggplant card stock (for some reason it looks darker in the photos but it coordinates well with the purple flowers) and adhered it to the card, trimming off the excess on either side. I then popped up the happy fox using foam squares and adhered the flowers using a liquid glue. To finish off the card, I pulled out my Stamp Platform and I stamped the ‘Hello’ sentiment using Memento tuxedo black ink. I used my Stamp Platform so ensure that I got a nice crisp inked up sentiment… couldn’t take any chances with my CAS design! I sure love how this turned out!

Thanks so much for checking out my DT blog post today! See ya next time.

      Inky Hugs,

      Crystal
