    • Stamping with the Snowflake Die in the December 2018 FOTM Card Kit

Hi! It’s Lynnea Hollendonner and I’m loving the Animals in the Arctic December 2018 Flavor of the Month card kit from Scrapping for Less! Even though this kit is sold out I wanted to share a few card ideas for those of you who were able to purchase the kit! Winter is my favorite and I just love the purples and blues found throughout the collections! But what I really love are snowflakes! The little snowflake die in the kit is perfect for more than just die cutting! Watch my video at the end of this post to see how I use it as a stamp to build my backgrounds!

Can you believe that both of these backgrounds were created by stamping with a die cut? It’s one of my favorite ways to stretch my dies! And it’s so easy to do! I used the small snowflake die from the third collection and die cut it from some sticky backed fun foam. It’s not necessary for it to be sticky backed, but it makes it so much easier. In my video I used green fun foam, but that’s only because I have a multi pack of foam and green happened to be the color that was on my desk. You can use any color that you have! If it’s sticky backed fun foam you just stick it onto an acrylic block and you’re good to go. If it’s just regular fun foam you’re die cutting add a thin strip of removable adhesive to an acrylic block and stick the fun foam to it.

Once you’ve mounted the die cut fun foam to your acrylic block you can stamp like you would any other stamp! How awesome! For my cards I used Versamark ink as well as a gold pigment ink, but this technique works with dye inks as well!

I started with a piece of dark purple cardstock included in the kit and stamped my sentiment from the LDRS stamp set from the fourth collection and heat embossed it with white powder. Then I used my die cut snowflake stamp with some Versamark ink to cover up my background. I embossed the snowflakes with pearl embossing powder. It looks so shimmery and wintery! I love how the pearl embossing picks up the background color along with a silvery shine! I cut up the snowflake garland so that I could use the snowflakes individually and used liquid adhesive to glue them and some sequins around my card.

While I had the die cut snowflake adhered to my acrylic block I decided to make another quick and easy card! I used a gold pigment ink and stamped my snowflakes so that it would look like there was a flurry of snowflakes coming down from the top of the card. I used the same ink to stamp my sentiment and BOOM! I have two quick and simple cards! And I stretched my supplies! You can watch my process in the video below!
