    • Fall Inspired Create-a-Dex Cards ~ Sweater Weather

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Nov 13th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a couple Fall inspired Memory Dex cards using the newly released Scallop Flower Create-a-Dex die set from Scrapping for Less along with a few other fun products from the shop!
How cute are these?! I used the pretty Always Changing papers for these sweet Memory Dex cards with the Autumn Blessings die and the Sweater Weather stamp set. Now, I’ve shared a few different cards using the Autumn Blessings die… I love the beautiful font in this die!! Check out my Cozy Fall card, my Let’s Bundle Up card, and my Fall is Coming card for more inspiration with these products.
A closer look at the Fall Sweet Fall memory dex card… I love the colors in these papers! I used the following copic markers on this card ~ YG03, YR12, YR16, BG0000, BG01, BG11, BG23.
I have a little video sharing the coloring and assembling of this card. You can check that out here…

And a closer look at my second memory dex card using the Autumn Blessings die and I created a pretty Fall flower using the stitched flower that’s included in the Scallop Flower Create-a-Dex die set. I die cut the flower three times and using my bone folder I rounded the petals a bit. The brad that I added in the center of the flower is from my stash… I’m actually not sure where it’s from.
I finished off the memory dex card with a few orange enamel dots from Carta Bella’s Fall Break collection. I just love how these turned out!! That’s it for me this week… I’ll see you next week with my sneak peek for the November FOTM card kit!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky hugs,
      Crystal

    • Autumn Blessings & Sweater Weather ~ Cute Fall Cards

      Oct 16th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a sweet Fall card using one of my favorite Scrapping for Less dies… the Autumn Blessings die, along with a cute coffee stamp that I just adore that’s from the Sweater Weather stamp set by Paper Sweeties! Shall we have a look?
I just happened to have a few pieces of the gorgeous Cozy Fall papers left over and they were absolutely perfect for this card design. I love sweaters! I’m a sweater loving, Fall loving kinda gal and the beautiful designs in these papers just make my heart happy!
And since I was already planning on making a couple more Fall cards to send out, it just made sense to use my favorite Autumn Blessings die! This die does take a bit of patience as there’s four separate pieces (not including the dot for the ‘i’), but once you have it all adhered together it is SO worth it!!
This was the first card I made while planning out my design. I love love love that floral piece behind the focal piece. The rich reds and greens on the black background is just stunning. I pulled my color palette for the cards from the papers and I think they turned out really pretty!
I used the following Copic Markers for these cards:
      Leaves ~ YG03, YG63
      Berries ~ R000, R37
      Flowers ~ YR14, YR15, YR21, YR24
      Mug ~ E41, E43
      Grounding ~ N0, N1
Here’s the two cards together. You can check out my process video for my card… here!

Surprise! I have a bonus card to share! I also had these scraps left over from my Cozy Fall paper pack and whipped up a quick card using a sentiment from the Sweater Weather stamp set along with a “Happy” die from my stash. And to finish it off I stamped the heart, also from the Sweater Weather set, a few times… even stamping off once to get a lighter heart. I used Chipped Sapphire distress ink for this little bit of stamping. Go check out these fabulous Fall products in the SFL shop!!
That’s it for me this time! Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,
      Crystal

    • October Sketch Challenge #8 ~ September 2020 FOTM Card Kit ~ Happy Fall

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Oct 1st
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie and I’m sharing the October challenge for the Scrapping for Less: Show & Share Facebook group! This month’s challenge is another sketch challenge. We had such a great turn out for our last slimline sketch challenge that I thought we’d give it another try!
Before we get to the sketch and the card that I’m sharing today… the key to playing along with the challenge is being a member of the Scrapping for Less: Show & Share Facebook group so if you aren’t already a member be sure to join in the fun —> here. Also, please note that you don’t need a blog to enter the challenge as you’re adding a photo of your creation directly into the challenge album in the group. You are welcome to include a link to your blog in the description of your creation, if you’d like.
Alrighty… let’s have a look at the sketch for challenge #8…
You may remember seeing a sneak peek or two of this sketch during our reveal and hop for the new September 2020 FOTM Card Kit – Orchards & Patches… if you haven’t hopped with us yet , you can start hopping —> here. Now, let’s check out the card I created as inspiration for the sketch…
A cute slimline featuring the adorable gnome from Collection Two: Apple Orchard Pickin’… isn’t he just the cutest?! I used the sweet Harvest Time Stencil included in the Banana Split subscription… blending some Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks over the sunflower one at a time. I cut my slimline card front measuring 3-1/2 x 8-1/2″ from Speckled Orange card stock and adhered it to a white slimline card base measuring 7 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 3-1/2″. I trimmed down my sunflower background to 3-1/4 x 8-1/4″ and used a corner rounder punch on all four corners. I adhered the background to my card base and cut a 3/4″ strip of Jellybean Green card stock and stamped the Happy Fall sentiment masking each of the words separately so I could stamp the sentiments next to each other. I stamped them with Clear Embossing ink and heat embossed a fine white embossing powder. I adhered the green sentiment strip to the card base and set it aside.
I stamped the adorable Apple Gnome stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with the following Copic Markers:
      Skin ~ E000, E00, E11
      Beard ~ C00, C1
      Hat ~ E51, E55
I stamped the hat of the Apple Gnome onto a couple scrap pieces of patterned paper from the collection and fussy cut them out and adhered them to the hat. I then fussy cut the gnome… also cutting off portion of the apple on his hat… and adhered him to a white die cut circle. I fussy cut the cute little sunflower and leaf from a piece of the patterned paper and adhered them to the gnome’s hat. I adhered the circle to a scalloped circle that I die cut from the Speckled Orange card stock. I popped up the focal image on the card with foam squares. To finish off the card, I added a few of the tiny sequins from the Banana Split subscription all around the card. I think it turned out pretty cute!
The October Sketch challenge will run from today, October 1st and will end October 31st at 11:59pm EDT. The winner will be announced in the comments of the Challenge album on Sunday November 1st. Please use #sflsketchchallenge8 in any social media posts when playing along with the challenge.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.

This Fall loving girl is in love with this kit!! It’s so stinkin’ cute and just perfect for all your Fall cardmaking needs!! Enough chit chat… let’s get to the card I created!

So… if you have followed my creative card making journey at all, you may know about my obsession with teal trucks. lol… I love them so! It’s really no surprise that I just had to frame this adorable paper and make it a feature of my card! I love it!
I layered the two beautiful papers from Collection Four and adhered a stitched scallop frame that I die cut from white card stock. I stamped the Hey There Pumpkin stamp with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored it in with my Copic markers. I used the following Copic markers:
      ‘Hey There’ ~ E23
      ‘Pumpkin’ ~ BG01, BG10, BG45, BG57
      Pumpkin ~ YR15, YR21, YR27, YR68, E21, E23, E27
I then fussy cut around the image and sentiment and then adhered it to a white stitched oval. I then popped that up on the card and finished it off with a few enamel dots. You can check out my process video below…

I am just loving how this card turned out. It has me dreaming about cooler days with leaves changing colors and falling leaves. *sigh*  Do you love Fall too? Let me know in the comments what’s your favorite part of the Fall season.

Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with one more card using the adorable Bubbles Galore card kit from Scrapping for Less!! I’ve used the cute Bubbles Die from the Banana Split subscription to create an easy border edge for my card.
I did a little paper piecing with my copic colored dragon from the Tiny Bubbles stamp set in Collection Four: Bubbles Galore. And the cute sentiment that I think goes just perfectly with this card design is from the Bubbles in the Tub stamp set included in Collection One: Bubbles in the Tub.
Here’s a close up of the card. I used the following Copic markers to color this cute dragon:
      Dragon ~ YG00, YG11, YG13, BV000, BV11, V17, N0, N2
      Bubble Wand ~ RV04

I really love the soft pinks and greens and I pulled those colors from the beautiful Winter in Pink paper pad… one of my absolute fave papers for Christmas!!
I used the same stamp sets for this card… Winter Fairies, Winter Fairy House, and Christmas Sentiments.
And the inside… Ahhh-dorable!!! Am I right?! I created a little scene with the Winter Fairy House and the cute fairy snoozing on the moon.

Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a couple of cute Christmas cards using a mix of new and old Christmas products from Scrapping for Less! I used the new beautiful Red Christmas paper pad along with the Christmas Sentiments and Reindeer Games stamp sets.
A fabulous mix of pretty papers and adorable stamps along with a fun sketch makes for some adorable Christmas cards to add to my stash!
Using a white card base for my first card helps the white in the patterned papers to pop on the card… really drawing your eye to all the pretty papers!
I just love this cute Reindeer kid from the stamp set… so fun to color!
I love the mix of kraft, red, and white in these papers… one of my favorite color combos AND perfect for Christmas cards!! I probably shouldn’t have included the tree… it kinda messes with the color scheme but it’s so cute!
I used the following Copic markers for both cards:
      Reindeer Kid ~ R14, R20, R27, E000, E23, E25, E31, E34, E51, YR23, YR27
      Christmas Tree ~ G24, G28, G29, Y06, Y17, R14, R20, R27, E55, E57, E59, B000, B01
Have you started on your Christmas cards yet? I have just over a dozen in my stash… I really need to get more done so I’m not freaking out around the holidays. Well, that’s it for me this time.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.

Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie and today I’m sharing the new challenge cue over at Scrapping for Less: Show & Share Facebook group. I don’t know about you all but I absolutely LOVE Fall colors… the rich combinations of earth tones along with the regal tones… it makes my heart so happy to play with these colors!! I thought it was time to switch things up and do a color challenge!

Before we get to the color challenge… a little business… the key to playing along with the challenges in the Scrapping for Less: Show & Share Facebook group is being a member of the group so if you aren’t already a member please join us here!! We’d love to have you come join us! Also, please note that you don’t need a blog to enter the challenge as you’re adding a photo of your creation directly into the challenge album in the group. You are welcome, however, to add a link to your blog in the description of your creations if you’d like.

Let’s check out the Fall Color Challenge cue…

      {Photo Credit: love-palette.tumblr.com}
Stunning color combo, am I right? I love it!
We have a dark green, light olive, deep yellow, yummy orange, rich cranberry & luscious eggplant.
Of course, if you don’t have these exact colors it’s ok… just try to use similar ones. And you can incorporate any neutrals that you need for your design.
Here is my card… using the gorgeous Cozy Fall papers from Scrapping for Less along with the adorable Bundle Up stamp set from Hero Arts. Both of these products are available in the SFL shop!!
If you’ve been playing along with our sketch challenges in the Facebook group, you may recognize the sketch I used for my card design. This is one of my favorites for featuring pretty papers… so I just had to use it. I stamped the cabin with Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, and Hickory Smoke distress ink cubes carefully inking it up in sections. I then colored it just a little for highlights with my Copic markers. I stamped a few leaves, acorns and pine cones on a scrap of white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored those in with Copics, as well.
Here’s a list of the Copic markers I used:
      Cabin ~ N0, N2, E23, E25, E55, E57
      Pine Cones ~ E51, E55, E57
      Acorns ~ E21, E23, E25
      Leaves ~ Y11, Y15, Y35, YR15, YR21, YR68, R000, R05, R14, R27, R39, R46, R56
      Sky ~ Y000, Y11, YR15, YR21, YR23, YR27
I also die cut the Autumn Blessings die twice from the dark green paper in the Cozy Fall paper pad. I adhered those together and then adhered them to a piece of the cream sweater paper. I trimmed that down and mat it with the dark green paper. I adhered the sentiment to the focal image and then popped it up on the card front. So… what do you think? I think it turned out pretty cute and it’s definitely got me excited for Fall!
I hope you’ll come by the Scrapping for Less: Show & Share Facebook group and play along with the September challenge. It starts today and will end September 30th at 11:59pm EDT. The winner will be announced on October 1st in the challenge album. Please use hashtag #sflcolorchallenge5 in any social media posts when playing along with the challenge. Can’t wait to see what you create with this gorgeous Fall inspired color palette!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.

    • August 2020 FOTM ~ Bubbles Galore ~ One Last Sneak Peek!

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Aug 28th

Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a Sneak Peek of the fantastic August 2020 FOTM Card Kit with a Bubbles Galore theme!! I’m sharing some of the fun products available in the Banana Split Subscription and the punny stamps from Collection Two in this sweet shaker card I created!

I went with a mostly pink monochromatic theme for my card… but colored up a brown chicken so it would pop on the card. I don’t make too many shaker cards… for whatever reason they don’t usually work out for me, but this one did! I had so much fun creating it!
I have a process video for this card on the SFL YouTube Channel. You can check that out here…

The FOTM card kits have been selling out quickly each month! Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out on receiving this kit! And don’t forget about the reveal and hop tonight at midnight EDT… the design team and our guest have lots of fun inspiration to share!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,

    • July 2020 FOTM Card Kit ~ Tropical Fruit Collection

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Aug 21st
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with one more card using the beautiful Tropical Fruit Collection of the July 2020 FOTM Card Kit!! I had fun designing this card with almost a monochromatic feel with all the green papers, but a splash of yellow and pink!
I really like the unique design of this card with the focal image to the side. Mix matching the pretty Tropical Fruit papers for this card was fun, too!
I really love this sentiment… so punny! I also enjoyed coloring these pretty pineapples. I used the following Copic markers: Y11, Y13, Y35, E23, RV34, RV91, YG03, YG11, YG13, YG17, YG63. I fussy cut the pineapples and adhered the larger one to the card front. I then popped up the smaller one using foam squares. I also popped up the sentiment and finished off the card with three pink enamel dots. I adhered the finished card front to a white card base. I think it turned out pretty cute!
That’s it for me this time.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
