    • November 2020 FOTM Card Kit ~ Inky Embossed Backgrounds

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Nov 27th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a little more inspiration using the November 2020 FOTM Card Kit Simply Sentimental. I had a fun idea for a quick card while creating my cards for the hop and reveal so I gave it a quick try… Loved it!! So I decided to make three more cards using the same techniques and they really were quick!
My first original card… I started with a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ piece of Pink Lemonade card stock. I inked up the de-bossed side {the side that indents) of the Hearts Embossing folder with Sweet Blush dye ink from Papertrey Ink. I then ran the embossing folder through my big shot… now when I did this the card stock jumped a bit {my plate is really bowed in the center… I keep flipping it over but I think it’s time to replace the plate} and that’s why the bottom portion of the card looks blurry… almost 3D.
Anywho, I do love the texture that this technique gives to the card!! I trimmed down the card front to 4 x 5-1/4″ and adhered it to a Kraft card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″. I then wrapped the card front with the beautiful ribbon that I received in the Banana Split goodies! With a separate piece of ribbon I tied a bow and I adhered it with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment from the Thanks So Much stamp set found in Collection Two with Classic Kraft ink from Papertrey Ink. I masked the little heart in the sentiment… I thought it would be fun to use a little heart punch from my stash to add a little interest to the sentiment. I finished off this card with a few sequins, also from the Banana Split subscription.
My second card… I used the very same technique for this card and the next two. For this one I used Picket Fence Distress Ink in the embossing folder and the Razzleberry card stock from the card kit.
I also used Raspberry Fizz dye ink from Papertrey Ink to darken the raised hearts and also for the heart at the end of the sentiment.
For card #3… I used Mint Julep dye ink. Isn’t it beautiful!
This one just might be my favorite of them all!
And the last card… I used Melon Berry dye ink. It has almost a wood grain feel for this one with the colors and also the texture in the background.
And I changed things up with this one and used a different thank you sentiment from the same stamp set. I like how it changes up the design of the card.
I do have a video sharing the process in making the last three cards and finishing up the first card with the sentiment.
You can check that out… here!

A look at all four cards! Which one is your favorite?! I’d love to know… if you have a minute, please share in the comments. Well, that’s it for me this time!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.
      Inky Hugs,
      Crystal

    • Hey There Pumpkin ~ September 2020 FOTM Card Kit ~ Sneak Peek

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Sep 25th

Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with the last sneak peek of the September 2020 FOTM Card Kit before the reveal and hop that starts at midnight tonight!! This Fall loving girl is in love with this kit!! It’s so stinkin’ cute and just perfect for all your Fall cardmaking needs!! Enough chit chat… let’s get to the card I created!

So… if you have followed my creative card making journey at all, you may know about my obsession with teal trucks. lol… I love them so! It’s really no surprise that I just had to frame this adorable paper and make it a feature of my card! I love it!
I layered the two beautiful papers from Collection Four and adhered a stitched scallop frame that I die cut from white card stock. I stamped the Hey There Pumpkin stamp with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored it in with my Copic markers. I used the following Copic markers:
      ‘Hey There’ ~ E23
      ‘Pumpkin’ ~ BG01, BG10, BG45, BG57
      Pumpkin ~ YR15, YR21, YR27, YR68, E21, E23, E27
I then fussy cut around the image and sentiment and then adhered it to a white stitched oval. I then popped that up on the card and finished it off with a few enamel dots. You can check out my process video below…

I am just loving how this card turned out. It has me dreaming about cooler days with leaves changing colors and falling leaves. *sigh*  Do you love Fall too? Let me know in the comments what’s your favorite part of the Fall season.
Don’t forget about the reveal and hop tonight at midnight, but be sure to snatch up your card kit before then!! You do not want to miss out on this one!!
That’s it for me this week! I’ll see you in two weeks with an adorable set of cards using Collection Two from the card kit!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.

    • June 2020 FOTM Card Kit ~ Picnic Time Collection ~ Cute Ant Card!

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Jul 3rd
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a cute card using the Picnic Time Collection from the June 2020 A Walk in the Park card kit! I shared my card for the new July Sketch Challenge just a couple of days ago and I got to thinking that when you cut your papers for this sketch you’re left with such angled pieces. I thought maybe it would be fun to share a card using those leftovers. I decided to use the leftover pieces from my card that I shared during the reveal and hop. You can check out that card here… Picnic Time Collection card.
And here is what I came up with for those leftover pieces. Speaking of leftover pieces… I know that this card kit has sold out, but this paper pack is still available separately —> Picnic Time paper pack!!!
I think it turned out pretty cute! What do you think?
And I finally got a chance to ink up that cute ant stamp! He was so much fun to color! I actually have two videos to share for this card… the first video is the Copic coloring of the sweet Picnic Time Ant!

And the second video is the fussy cutting and assembling of the card.

I thought I’d split these up so they’d be shorter and maybe if you’re more interested in the coloring you can watch that or if you’d rather just see the fussy cutting and assembling ~ you can check that out! Well, that’s it for me today!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.

    • More Tea-rrific Inspiration!

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Mar 20th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with more tea-rrific inspiration using the sweet Tea Party Collection from the It’s All About the Girls card kit! This collection is especially endearing for me because my Mom was a tea drinker and her favorite color was purple. So while I created with this collection she was in the forefront of my mind.
With that said, it’s no surprise that a couple of the cards I made are cards that could be for Mother’s Day. I know it’s a couple months away but it sure doesn’t hurt to have those in your stash, right?!
I used up almost every last scrap of the patterned papers on these four cards. I had a lot of fun mix matching the patterned papers for each of the cards. I even paper pieced for this first card. Isn’t that tea pot just the cutest with those pink polka dots! Love it! And it works well with all the polka dots in the patterned papers and even the enamel dots play into that design!
I had a couple more of the wood icons left over in my collection so I stamped the cup and saucer with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored it with the following copic markers ~ R81, R83, R85, E51. I kept the tea a light milky color because my Mom liked her tea with a lot of milk. I then fussy cut the cup/saucer and cleaned up the edges of the image with my Memento Tuxedo black marker. I adhered the cup/saucer to the wood icon with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I then adhered the wood icon piece to a Grape Jelly die cut scalloped circle.
My third card is really very simple in the design… I adhered all of the layers on a card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ of Pink Lemonade card stock and then adhered it to a white card base from my stash. I just adhered the sweet little wood icon tea pot to this card, along with the sentiment and was done. Very simple but sweet… I like it!
My last card is my favorite… I love the cute papers and the white embossed sentiment on the Plum Punch card stock. I colored this cup with the same copics as the other cup, but made it a bit darker. I also used BV0000, BV000, BV01 for the saucer. I used N0 and N2 to add some steam and for the ground. A similar design to the first two cards but I really love the way this one turned out!
Have you been playing with your It’s All About the Girls card kit? We would love to see your creations in the Scrapping for Less Show & Share group on Facebook. Come and join us and share your beautiful cards! And if you haven’t purchased this beautiful card kit yet, there are still some in the shop… be sure to get your kit before they are all gone!!
I sure hope you’ve enjoyed more inspiration for the It’s All About the Girls card kit!! I’ll be back tomorrow with even more inspiration using the gorgeous Glass Slippers Collection!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      See ya next time.

    • More Inspiration with the Be-You-tiful Collection!!

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Mar 13th
Hello there crafty friend! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with more inspiration from Collection One of the It’s All About the Girls card kit… I can’t get enough of this kit and Collection One has been one of my most favorite collections! I have three cards to share today… I was able to use up most of my patterned paper and a few more of the awesome Sentiment Stickers included in the collection.
For my first card, I die cut the polka dot paper with the Loopy Rectangle die from Gina Marie Designs and then I stamped the cluster of stars included in the Be-You-tiful stamp set multiple times on the polka dot paper with Ranger Archival Jet black ink. I used my heat tool to dry the ink and popped it up on pink patterned paper with foam squares. I then adhered the entire panel to a white card base. I added the sentiment sticker and finished off the card with a few of the enamel dots included in the collection. I love how simple but beautiful this card is!
Another pretty simple card using up the patterned papers in the collection along with some ribbon from my stash and another fabulous sentiment sticker. It’s not often that I make a card without some kind of stamping but this card came together so fast… I love it!
My last card for the Be-You-tiful collection just may be my favorite of all the cards I created using this collection. I wanted to use the Life sentiment sticker and thought it would be fun to incorporate the heart shape of the sentiment by die cutting the stamped face image with a stitched heart die. I happened to have a few more pieces of patterned paper that worked perfectly with the heart theme of the card, but they didn’t quite fit a card base. So I adhered them together and then adhered them to the center of a white card base. I popped up the stitched heart die cut and adhered the Life sentiment, along with the last of my enamel dots in the collection. It felt really good to finish off some of my enamel dot collection.. lol! I just love this card!
That’s it for me! I hope you’ve been inspired by my cards today using the Be-You-tiful collection from the It’s All About the Girls card kit. And if you haven’t purchased this fabulous kit, there are still some in the shop!! Check it out here —> It’s All About the Girls card kit!
