    • Sneak Peek Week: Thursday!

Posted at 11:07 am by kimmyfsmithyahoocom
      Sep 24th

      Hello, hello!

Kim here from @cardmakingblonde here today wishing you Fall Blessings!

Here in Florida we have seen temps dipping into the 80’s so Fall has officially arrived! We joke about it but if you are either from here or if you’ve lived here long enough there really is a change in the feel and smell of the air that tells you Fall is here. I still wish we had the changing leaves but alas, you can’t have it all right?

I’m thrilled to be sharing a sneak peek from SFL’s Flavor of the Month September 2020 card kit: Orchards and Patches. Using the stencil from the Banana Split ingredients and elements out of collection two: Apple Orchard Pickin’ I created the card below.

Here’s the run down on how this card came together:

-stenciled the apples with distress oxide inks using a sponge dauber for the apple and cotton swabs for the leaf and twig

-held stencil and paper together with Wendy Vecchi MAKE ART Stay-tion-All-In-One Magnetic Surface (I LOVE this tool and find myself using stencils more frequently now that I have it.)

-used Bristol Smooth paper which the Distress Oxide inks go on like a dream

-created a background with the apples then used an aqua shimmer pen by Nuvo to add some glimmer

-the sentiment in the center is from the paper in the Apple Orchard Pickin’ collection, there is a sheet of cut aparts

-popped that sentiment up with foam adhesive

-used the twine also included in the collection to wrap around the card and add a bow before gluing the panel down to the card base

There will be one more sneak peek tomorrow and then the BLOG HOP! I look forward to seeing what the rest of the design team came up with. You have two ways to get your Flavor of the Month card kit.

      1. Sign up for a subscription now so you don’t have to worry about a sell out
      2. Wait for the kit to reveal at midnight EST on September 26th and grab a one time purchase (this one is a little risky but no judgement if you enjoy living on the edge a little ha, ha!)

Thank you so much for joining me here on the blog today for this sneak peek! I look forward to seeing you at the hop and hope you are enjoying a nice Fall so far!

      Just keep creating,

      Kim 🙂

      Oct 5th

Hi all! I hope you are finding yourself easing into a wonderful weekend. I am up today with a couple of cards I made with September’s Flavor of the Month Kit. I was so excited to get my hands on this kit and I had to MAKE myself step away from it because you know, life.

As soon as I opened my kit I dug into the Frightful Collection. I LOVE HALLOWEEN! I wish it was a tradition to send Halloween cards to friends and family like it is to send Christmas cards because Halloween cards are so much fun to make. This card came together so quickly with the cute little die cut characters included in the collection. I had such a hard time choosing which one to use, then I had a group and then I let the sketch dictate who made it on the card. For the card below I used the Paper Play Sketches #52.

      sflblogpost10052019

The next card is from the Cozy Fall Collection. I pulled the paper out and looked it over and immediately I wanted to paper piece that sweater stamp…and then I realized that wasn’t going to work because it is a stamp stamp. Then I thought..ooh yes I can so I traced the stamp and paper pieced it anyway. I love it when what you see in your head works out! Sketch #194 from Operation Write Home was the one used for the card below.     Often when card making I find myself always reaching for the same ink to stamp a sentiment but this time I reached for blue ink and I knew it had been too long since I had changed things up because of the level of excitement I felt at using another color. sflblogpost10052019b

I am looking forward to digging into the other two collections which I’ll post those cards on my instagram account at @cardmakingblonde. Below will be the links to the Double Dip and Banana Split kits which are down into the single digits so get one while you can!

    • November Flavor of the Month Kit – Banana Split Cards

Posted at 9:00 am by Lynnea Hollendonner
      Nov 27th

Hi, everyone! It’s Lynnea and I have a video using the November 2018 Flavor of the Month card kit. The kit is called Sophisticated and Elegant and I’m going to share two cards using the Banana Split level kit – it’s totally worth the upgrade! You’ll get an exclusive Scrapping for Less stamp set, a Sunny Studios die, some gems from Kaiser Craft, and a white gel pen in addition to the four collections you get in the Double Dip subscription! You can’t beat the value! Head over to the Scrapping for Less store to start your subscription!

I used the Puttin’ on the Spritz stamp set from the Banana Split level and stamped the perfume bottle and sentiment in the center of my card. I wanted it to look like the bottle was spraying color, so I added a drop of watercolor near where the spray would originate and blew air through a straw to move the color out. I have to say….it didn’t work. Haha! But I never scrap a card! I used my paintbrush and helped the paint along!

I made two cards – one with yellow and pink and one with mint and blue. I colored the bottles with some gold Gansai Tambi watercolors as well as the regular pan colors. You can use whatever watercolors you have on hand!

I added some watercolor spatters and some pearls that came in the Banana Split level kit to finish off the cards! Watch the full process video below!

    • The Greeting Farm ~ You’re Awesome!

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Apr 20th

Hello! Crystal here with a super fun card using The Greeting Farm’s Mini-Remix Boys. How cute is this stamp set?! I am loving it! I think it’s the perfect stamp set for me to use for my three boys!

I was thinking I’d make a card to help encourage my second oldest to keep up the good work on his school work to finish up the year. I started by die cutting the sidewalk. I used a stitched border on either side to cut it out. I then masked it in sections and blended a bit of  Pumice Stone distress ink. I then cut a piece of green card stock from my leftovers from past card kits to fit the lower portion of the card. I adhered the sidewalk piece to the green card stock and trimmed the entire piece. I then die cut the houses from leftover black card stock and set them aside. I trimmed the houses and adhered them to the back of the green card stock. I cut a 4 x 5-1/4″ piece of white card stock and blended some clouds using a stencil and Tumbled Glass distress ink. I adhered the white cloud background to a black piece of card stock that measures 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″. I adhered the whole grass/sidewalk piece to the bottom of the white card stock. I then adhered the whole piece to a white card base.

Now to stamp this cute little boy stamp… I stamped him, the skateboard and the soccer ball using Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored it in using Copic markers {Skin – E50, E51, E53; Hair – E79, E77, E74; Shirts – N0, N1, R29, R89; Jeans – B97, B99; Shoes – R29, N0; Skateboard – Y06, YR68, R29; Soccer ball – N0}. I fussy cut all the pieces and then went around the edge with a Memento tuxedo black marker to cover the white edges. I set those aside and then die cut the ‘you’re’ portion of the Lawn Fawn sentiment die from the Banana Split subscription of the March 2018 Flavor of the Month card kit. I stamped the ‘awesome’ sentiment on black card stock using VersaMark ink and heat embossed some ultra fine white embossing powder. I trimmed the ‘you’re’ sentiment and adhered it to the card using Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I fussy cut the ‘awesome’ sentiment into a banner and adhered it to the card using mono multipurpose liquid glue. Once I had those where I wanted them, I adhered the little boy and his accessories. There you have it… how sweet is this card?! I think my son will get a kick out of it!

      Thanks for stopping by!

      See ya next time.

Hello! Crystal here with a really quick and cute card using some leftover pieces from the February Castles & Dreams card kit.

I used papers from Collection Two and the other elements are from the Banana Split subscription. I stamped the sentiment from the Castles and Dreams Sentiment stamp set using VersaMark ink and heat embossed some fine black embossing powder. I die cut the piece using a wonky rectangle die. I adhered the two pieces of rainbow paper left over from the kit and then I added the two stickers leftover from the Doodlebug Designs Rainbow Doodlepop. I adhered the whole panel to a white card base and there you have it. I love how easily it came together and I think it’s pretty cute!

      Thanks for stopping by!

      See ya next time.
