Hi crafty friends! Kim here from Cardmaking Blonde with a fairy fun shaker card to show off SFL’s new release! (Sorry I couldn’t help myself.) Shaker cards are fun, versatile and add a little something out of your ordinary everyday card. Over the years I have watched many videos of how to make them, different methods and tricks. Every time I sit down to make a shaker card I feel like I’m learning for the first time. I will say this card might be the one I had the least amount of trouble with but please note the trouble is mine not in the technique itself. It’s actually a very simple process I just struggle with it for some strange reason. I have to take each step slowly so that I don’t glue the wrong pieces together. I was so happy with the way it turned out!
Here’s a quick run down of what I did:
stamped sentiment on the clear acetate sheet (after hitting it with an Embossing Magic Pad so the embossing powder wouldn’t cling where I didn’t want it to) with VersaFine black onyx ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder
the image from Winter Fairies by SFLwas stamped with Memento black ink then was colored with Prismacolor pencils & maybe Derwent inktense pencils (I keep them in the same case and when I’m coloring I am usually just looking for the right color not which brand)
fussy cutted out the image and then went around the edges with a Memento marker in black ink (gives it a finished look even if your edges are a little rough)
Above I’ve included the links on the pics for the individual products or you can click the pic below where I’ve included the link to get the bundle.
Thank you so much for stopping in today and checking out the blog! Take some time and look around the other design team members have done some really great work with this release. No such thing as too much inspiration right?
What better way to ring in the new year than by introducing an all new release from SFL! I created today’s card using the Winter Fairies stamp set, the Fairy House stamp set and Winter in Pink paper pad. These items work perfectly together or separately whatever you are wanting to create whether it be a birthday card, encouragement or just general well wishes these elements will help get you there.
I know I love it when a collection can work together and separately and SFL has made it easy for you to either choose the entire New Release bundle or just the individual pieces you want. This is a beautiful collection and I hope to be back soon with more creations to show off. I hope your 2020 is getting off to a great start and thank you for stopping in to check out this fantastic new release from SFL!
Kim here from Cardmaking Blonde, it’s sneak peek week over at SFL and I am super excited to share the card I made from one of the collections in December’s Flavor of the Month card kit! The stamp set is called Puppy Hugs & Kisses and features adorable images of a puppy and some sweet sentiments.
I hope you all are enjoying this season of merry making and have had some time for yourselves as well. I know this time of year can get hectic and sometimes overwhelming so I’m glad you have taken a break and joined me here for a little inspiration (I hope). I am still making Christmas cards for friends and family and haven’t been able to get my fill of November’s Flavor of the Month card kit. This is the most recent card I have made from this kit.
Quick Tip: When embossing on watercolor paper tape it down to your surface first (I used a small cutting board so I can hold onto it easier and move it around easier) this will keep your paper from bowing up on you.
I have been wanting to watercolor an image for some time now and thought this ornament would be perfect. Before I began watercoloring I stamped the image in black ink then again in Versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder which gave me “guidelines” if you will while I was painting. The gold didn’t show up as sparkly in the picture as it does it real life unfortunately but you still get the idea. I pulled pieces from the different collections in the November Flavor of the Month kit. I glued the strand of pearls as a frame around the colored image with Multi Medium Matte it held it well, dried clear and didn’t take very long to dry either. Used WOW embossing powder to add the sentiment that comes with An Ornamental Christmas stamp set, I am smitten with that font and the leafy sprigs!
That is it for me and this card I think it came out lovely and I enjoyed making it which that is why we do this after all right? Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
Hello and Season’s Greetings to you all! I hope you are having a good December and are busy making memories with friends and loved ones. Today I want to share with you a little card with a grande message. ( I know, I know but I love punny.)Grande-Sized Love from My Favorite Things clear stamp.
This pure innocence girl from MFTis incredibly versatile. You could use it for a thank you card, birthday card, I love you card and of course she would be adorable on a card containing a gift card especially if that gift card was for a place that served coffee. I kept things pretty simple wanting her to take center stage on the card. Here is the run down of what I did and what I used to do it:
This card is bright and cheery and a perfect thank you for me to give to a fellow coffee lover who really is always there to pick me up. I really do love the pure innocence collection from My Favorite Things and am so excited to add this little gal to my collection. Thank you for spending some time with me today on the blog and hope you are carving out a little time for yourself to do something crafty.
Hey fellow crafters! Kim here with a quick card using SFL’s Arctic Sentiments stamp setand Carta Bella’s Christmas paper pad. This little moose is just so darling I had to color him and give him center stage. It’s funny I was so excited to put him in the center of the circle that I forgot to put a shadow underneath him to ground him and I am just now realizing that he’s floating in that circle. I’ll have to fix that…oops! I guess there is always tweaking that can be done right?
For this little moose I stamped him with Memento Dye Ink in Tuxedo Blackthen colored him with Prismacolor pencils. I am still learning with my pencils so when I color with pencils I don’t really do a lot of blending I just color. This card came together quickly which isn’t always the case but sometimes it’s nice to have the ones that are cute and quick because if you are anything like me you are still making Christmas cards even into the middle or maybe late December.
Hope your holiday season has kicked off brilliantly and you are getting in some extra time with friends and loved ones. Take care and do a little something crafty for yourself!
Hi you all! Okay, okay, okay. Are you ready? I’m gonna gush a bit about the stamp I got to use to make my sneak peek card so brace yourselves. Have you ever looked at something and thought “Oh, yes that is perfect!” Well that is exactly how I felt when I saw this collection. From the stamp, the patterned paper, down to the embellishments in the collection each item just made me more excited to start playing! I could go on and on but I am sure you have other things to do today so here is what I did with this collection and a little sneak peek for what is coming this week:
using Lawn Fawn jet black ink I stamped the image from LDRS Christmas Post onto Neenah 80lb cardstock (I’m finding that my Copics don’t bleed as much with this weight of paper)
using Copic markers I colored the image
using Frosted Lace Stickles I filled in the white of her hooded shawl and the snow. I also covered the snowflakes with it as well. (I used Frosted Lace because I wanted something that would dry more white and less clear but still be very sparkly.) If you have Nuvo drops then you would want to use White Blizzard
using the patterned paper from the kit I decided that I would make a square card (a lot of Christmas cards I hand out rather than mail so this will definitely be one, but you can always make your own envelope if you need to mail it. I just could NOT bring myself to cut down that scene. The card front base is 5.5″ x 5.5″ (keep in mind you’ll want to double that when you make your card base so that it can be folded in half) the next sheet is 5″ x 5″ then the Merry Christmas sheet is 4.75″ x 4.75″ and the sheet the image is stamped on is 4.25″ x 4.25″
also in the kit was the little wooden embellishment that glued down on the bottom right hand corner with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I colored it in with Nuvo drops in woodland green and ruby slippers for the berries.
another embellishment in the kit were some heart stickers so I added a white little heart to the mailbox
I hope you enjoy this sneak peek! I had so much fun making this card and I cannot WAIT to give it away! Thank you for stopping in today and I hope you make it back for a bit each day to catch a glimpse of the other sneak peeks coming in for you! Also, join us next Saturday, November 30th for the blog hop.
Hello everyone! Kim here with a Christmas card with a pink color scheme to it. I like using non-traditional colors whether it’s for Christmas cards or any other occasions that have an expected color scheme. So here is how this card came together:
used Silver Bells Tags from Kaiserkraft-I used two of them because I wanted the front and the back. I removed the metal piece because I knew I didn’t plan on using the strings that come with the tags.
for the little hole I used pink stone Nuvo drops (QUICK TIP: when you put it down and you want a nice rounded bead don’t be afraid to whack the card against your hand or on a table it will help round the drops out)
This card came together rather quickly and if you only used one tag you could use it for your sentiment for six cards! And you would still have six tags that you could use for tags. Thanks so much for taking a few minutes to visit the blog! I hope you get a chance to do something crafty today!
Hello my crafty friends! It’s Kim here with a stamp set that I have been chomping at the bit to use! The images are the epitome of cozy and of all days here in Florida it is actually cold today! High of 68 degrees (yes that’s cold here). So here’s a run down of what I did with today’s card:
cut down my shiplap paper to 4″x5 1/4″ and adhered it onto the Nordic Winter sheet with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive (QUICK TIP: keep a sewing needle or strait pin nearby to unclog the tip)
used a rounded stitched rectangle die to cut out the image
finished by adding the sentiment in Versafine Ink and adding Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pen
This was my first attempt at a “no line” coloring and I’m liking how it turned out so I definitely think I will try again, practice makes perfect, right? Thank you so much for stopping in and checking out this card. I hope you get the chance to get crafty today!
