    • Winter Fun with A Gnome Winter by Picket Fence Studios

Posted at 9:00 am by Kimberly Smith
      Oct 30th

sflblogpost10192019Hi Everybody! Kim here and today I am using A Winter Gnome by Picket Fences which brings cuteness with just a face. I don’t know how they have managed to accomplish this but I’ll take it because this little gnome head is just adorable and without even seeing his eyes he screams Winter! I knew when I pulled this stamp set out to play with…er I mean work with it that I definitely wanted to use Kraft cardstock. I also wanted his beard to be very white and I thought the Kraft cardstock would work well for this. Originally I was going to adhere the naked trees down on top of Kraft paper but while making another card with Carta Bella’s Christmas 6×6 paper pad the snowflakes on top of woodgrain sheet caught my eye and I thought those trees would look perfect on top of that paper instead.

      sflblogpost10192019b

I heat embossed the image on Kraft cardstock with detailed white embossing powder after stamping the image with Versa Mark ink. Blues of course work for winter, I was going for an ombre effect so I started with Navy and worked up with lighter blues by section. Coloring with Derwent Inktense pencils I guess I just forgot that they don’t resist water in any way and thought I could wipe the color off the white embossed areas with a baby wipe but that did NOT work the way it did in my head. So I ended up fussy cutting the image out and using a label punch to punch out the sentiment.

      sflblogpost10192019d

Instead of the white embossing powder which I had already embossed by the way resisting the blue it looks like it just absorbed it. Not what I was going for but it certainly became what I was going with (insert wink emoji here). After adding some sequins with Multi Medium Matte I then used a white Signo pen to trace over some of the details in the gnome’s hat to make them look whiter. I also decided that his beard needed some of that white Signo pen treatment as well. All in all I am happy with this card and per usual seeing about a dozen other ways I would like to use this stamp set.

Thank you so much for checking out the blog today, I hope you take some time for yourself and get crafty.

      Keep on crafting,

      Kim 🙂

    • I’ll BEE Home for Christmas – featuring “Christmas Bee” stamp set by Art Impressions

Posted at 7:00 am by Christine Patterson
      Oct 28th

Hello Everyone! Christine with Pattercrafts here today and can I say – I am LOVING this Christmas Bee Stamp Set by Art impressions this Christmas Season! For today’s card, I created a scene using various images from the Christmas Bee stamp set. I thought the sentiment was perfect for our little Bee Choir!

For this card I trimmed down a piece of paper from the “Let’s Talk Bees” 6×6 pattern paper pad from Scrapping for less with a stitched rectangle die. I also trimmed down 2 pieces of white cardstock and used a snowy hills die to create my snow banks. Along the snow banks I added some wonderful texture with the Uchida Snow Marker! This liquid turns “foam like” when heat set with a heat gun and it a lot of fun to watch as it goes from 1 form to the other.

All the images were hand stamped with Gina K Black Amalgam Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I die cut them with my Scan and Cut and added them to my card.

Once everything was added to my card, it was time to give lots of texture, sparkle and shine. To the tree I added some red Stickles for ornaments and Nuvo “Yellow Bird” Glitter drops on the tree top. To the bees’ hats, I added the White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops; on their wings I used just Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal drops (which dried clear). The ornament and bee hive were needing some sparkle so I added the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush to those!

Thanks So Much for Stopping by today! I hope you enjoy and get inspired!

    • Soft Heat Embossed Lilac Snowflakes

Posted at 8:00 am by Lynnea Hollendonner
      Oct 27th

I just can’t wait for the first snow to fall! Where I live it’s not uncommon to have a dusting or two before Halloween!

      HE Snowflakes

This card is the result of a happy accident – but I love the look! I sprayed the back of the Echo Park Magical Snowfall Stencil a little too heavily with Pixie Spray and I didn’t wait long enough for the spray to dry before adding it to my cardstock. I pressed Versamark ink over the stencil and when I removed it and added my Lilac Pearl embossing powder the powder actually stuck to the background. I LOVE it! I think it looks like the soft flurries of snow that picks up and blows around in the wind!

      HE Snowflakes 2

The little snowman is from the Avery Elle Christmas Magic stamp set. I wanted him to match my heat embossed background, so I used some BV Copic Markers to color his hat and scarf. The sentiment is from the Sunny Studio Stamps Bundled Up stamp set. I thought it fit this card perfectly!

      HE Snowflakes 3

I added all of my die cut elements onto my card and finished it off with some string tied in a bow. Head over to the Scrapping for Less store to find these products and more for your Holiday cards!

      Christmas Around the World

I was an elementary school teacher for many years. During Christmas time for Social Studies we studied Christmas traditions around the world. This was my absolute favorite time of the year with my students. So, for our Christmas Around the World card kit I have chosen my most favorite countries we studied to feature.

Mexico: Great food and wonderful traditions centered around Papa Noel.

Sweden: St. Lucia was my favorite tradition in Sweden we studied.

Australia: My students got the biggest kick out of the fact that it was hot and summer there during Christmas.

Germany: Of course what would a study be without studying the origin of the Christmas tree.

      ~Teresa

    • October 2019 FOTM Card Kit ~ Sneak Peek

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Oct 25th

Hello there crafty friends! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a sneak peek of the fabulous new October 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit called Christmas Around the World!! Oh my goodness… I am so excited about this month’s kit! I love making Christmas cards and the products that fill this kit are amazing!!

My sneak peek is actually a sneak into a couple of the collections included in the kit because I fell in love with these gorgeous papers and just HAD to pair them up with the beautiful tree from another wonderful collection.

How fun is this blue Christmas tree?! As strange as it may sound, it reminds me of a Christmas decoration my Mom had of this styrofoam angel that was yellow and blue. We would hang it each year on the wall and I just loved it! I know, you’re probably thinking… styrofoam…? Yeah, it was one of my favorite decorations and brings me joy to think of it.

And that memory from my childhood, along with these gorgeous papers, inspired my colors for this beautiful Christmas tree! I just love it! I used Tumbled Glass, Vintage Photo, and Scattered Straw distress ink cubes to color the stamp… I was pretty careful but still ended up with a little brown ink on the bottom of the tree. In person, it’s covered up pretty well with the fun Sugar Dust so you can’t see it but, of course, the camera picked it up.

Here’s a close up of the Sugar Dust… so beautiful! I love the texture it adds!

And here’s one more look at the card… you are not going to want to miss out on this card kit… go subscribe —> Scrapping for Less!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See ya next time.

      Inky Hugs,

      Crystal

    • Sneak Peek! Flavor of the Month October Card Kit – Christmas Around the World!

Posted at 7:00 am by Christine Patterson
      Oct 21st

Hello Everyone! I’m here to share a Sneak Peek from the October 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit.

For today’s card, I made a shaker card with the fabulous sequins I received in my kit as part of collection 3. I first trimmed down a piece of pattern paper from the same collection and used a square die to cut my shaker window. I also created a frame using the same square die set. For the shaker portion, I used the “Happy Holidays” sentiment from the stamp set found in the banana split pack and used a platinum embossing powder. I did use 2 layers of foam adhesive so the sequins would shake really nicely.

I added this great ephemera piece also found in my kit as part of collection 3 and added a little gold gel pen and Wink of Stella clear glitter brush for some sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Stay tuned for the full reveal of Saturday, October 26!

I hope you enjoy and get inspired.
