I am so excited to get the chance to show this beautiful stamp set off! From the Vault Realistic Animals by Hero Arts. Looking at it in the beginning and trying to choose which images to use was highly difficult because I wanted to use them all. So far I have made two cards using this stamp set and I have one more in my mind’s eye that I want to make but alas I’ll have to leave that for another crafting session.
I really love stamping an image on kraft cardstock and then using Tim Holtz Distress Markers to color the image. I started off using Gina K. Designs amalgam ink in whisper but wasn’t crazy about how it turned out so I switched to black ink and liked that much better.
QUICK TIP: When using distress markers to color keep your blending to a minimum, the paper will absorb the ink and it starts pilling rather quickly.
Because these animals are so realistic looking each one made me think of a picture so I added the photo corners because I thought it made the images look like framed photos. I matted each stamped image with paper from Bo Bunny’s Natural Necessities 6×6 paper pad. When I got to the sentiment stamping I did something I hardly EVER do… I CUT IT APART! I know in reality the stamp feels nothing but I will admit that with each cut I squeaked a little. So fair warning to all the sentiment stamps out there: if you won’t fit where I want you to go… I’LL CUT YOU!
I added some of the gold glossy dots from Pink & Main as a finishing touch because it just looked as though it was missing something. While in the middle of making this card I kept eyeing another of the stamps that is part of this set and just HAD to use it. To me that is when you know you have your hands on a great stamp set when you look at it and the ideas just keep coming!
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look. I hope you make some time for yourself and get to create today!
Keep on Crafting,
P.S. Here’s the extra card I just HAD to make. I used colored pencils to color in the image and paper pieced the pillow.
