    • The Last Sneak Peek! August Flavor of the Month Card Kit

Posted at 9:00 am by Kimberly Smith
      Aug 30th

sflblog8302019bIt’s almost time!!! All week we over here at Scrapping For Less we have been getting wild with the Flavor of the Month card kit for August. I am so excited to see what everyone else has created and to see how all of you respond to this month’s kit!

For the sneak peek I grabbed some ingredients from collection four and one of the stamps from that same collection. Added my favorite sentiment from the Banana Split Stamp set and the whole card came together.

I colored the image in with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Markers, (I wish I could get the sparkle to show up in the pics as nicely as it does in real life!) except for the yellow color I used my Wink of Stella.

As I was finishing up with glueing everything down with Lawn Fawn’s glue tube I realized that I had glued the entire card upside down. Gah! I kind of laughed at myself and then began to work on fixing it so I just trimmed off the edges and then glued the card front down to a new card correctly this time!

The big reveal with be this coming Saturday, at 12:00 am EST. If you’re interested in making sure one of these gorgeous kits has your name on be sure to sign up for a subscription (plus saves you even more $$) prior to 10:00 pm EST Friday night.

Use the hashtag #sflFOTMexoticanimals on your social media using this card kit and we will select one lucky winner to feature their project on Scrapping for Less’ social media.

    • Day 4: Sneak Peek | August Flavor of the Month Card Kit

Posted at 8:00 am by Stacy Tiedemann
      Aug 27th

Hi Everyone, it’s Stacy from CraftaholicMomma up on the Scrapping for Less blog with Day 4 of the new card kit sneak peeks.

Are you excited? I know I am. The papers and stamps in this kit are so “exotic” they’ll turn you into a Wild Animal!!

Today I used the stamp and papers from Collection Three. I also grab the sentiment from the Banana Split Stamp set.

I created the image by doing a lot of masking and stamping to create my little meerkat crowd. I used a cloud stencil and Distress Oxide inks to blend the background.

The handsome little meerkat down front was stamped on the pattern paper, fussy cut and paper pieced into position.

To help the sentiment stand out as well, I slid the paper off to the side a teeny bit and did a “ghost” stamp.

The big reveal with be this coming Saturday, at 12:00 am EST. If you’re interested in making sure one of these gorgeous kits has your name on be sure to sign up for a subscription (plus saves you even more $$) prior to 10:00 pm EST Friday night.

    • Sneak Peek – August Flavor of the Month – Exotic Animals

Posted at 8:00 am by Christine Patterson
      Aug 26th

Hello Everyone, Christine with Pattercrafts here with a Sneak Peek of the August Flavor of the Month card kit. The theme for August 2019 is Exotic Animals. For today’s Sneak Peek I am using lots of ingredients from one of the collections. I absolutely LOVED the colors in pattern paper and had a hard time choosing which ones to use on this card.

Today I chose to make a shaker card with the fun Chameleon stamp set and sequins found in this collection. I thought it would be fun to just stamp the image on the pattern paper since chameleon’s are known to change color based on their mood or to blend into their environment. I’m pretty sure they cannot “blend” into these awesome papers, but in crafting – all things are possible.

And how much fun are these flags?! I thought it was a fun way to add the sentiment onto the card. I used the brown cord found in this collection to wrap around my front panel and tie a bow. I did have to use some glue dots to hold it in place.

For the inside of my card I used a small scrap of pattern paper I used on the front and glued it to the left of this white mat. I then stamped the chameleon on a branch with some leaves. All of these images and the sentiment are all part of the stamp set in this collection.

Thank You all so much for stopping by today. I hope you are looking forward to the complete reveal at the end of the week! And stop back each day until the reveal for more sneak peeks.

As always — Remember — We want to see what you create! Use #SflFOTMexoticanimals this month and share what you made with this card kit!

I hope you enjoy and get inspired!!

      August sneak

Here’s my sneak peek card! I am OBSESSED with these papers! These photos don’t do the pattern justice! This is my FAVORITE paper pack that Scrapping for Less has created. EVER! Oh. My. Gosh. Wait until you see the whole collection!

      August sneak 2

All the detail of this card is thanks to the patterned paper! The watercolored stripes, the faux specks of gold, the florals – that’s all from one sheet of paper! I matted it with some gold glitter cardstock to help bring out the faux gold accents and added my watercolored bird and a stamped sentiment.

      August sneak 3

That’s it! This piece of paper is one of many favorites from this collection! Saturday the 31st at midnight the whole kit will be revealed! See you then!

    • It’s Sneak Peek Time!!

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Aug 24th

Hello there crafty friends! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie sharing a sneak peek of the new August 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit… and I hope that you are prepared for another amazing card kit!! I am always in awe of the fabulous kits that Kim and Teresa put together for us to create with… so awesome!

One of my favorite collections in this month’s card kit includes this fabulous bird stamp and let me tell you… the papers in this gorgeous kit are Drop. Dead. Gorgeous!! I literally didn’t want to cut into them… lol… so I opted to use these beautiful foiled tags and a few other embellishments from the kit!! I did, however, cut into the papers and you’ll see what I created on Saturday when the kit is revealed and our hop is live!!!! Eeeep!! You’re going to love it!!

Back to these beautiful tags though… I had so much fun coloring this bird!! I stamped the bird twice on each tag and then again on scrap pieces of white card stock. I used the following copics for this tag ~ B0000, B00, B14, B24, YR0000, YR21, YR24, E0000, E00, E41, E43.

I also added some white gel pen to the eyes. I fussy cut the birds out and colored the edges of the fussy cut birds black with my Memento tuxedo black marker and then I adhered them to the tags. For the pink bird I used the following copic markers ~ RV0000, RV10, RV63, YR0000, YR21, YR24, E0000, E000, E41, E43.

I stamped the sentiment from the same collection omitting a portion of the sentiment (you can see a tiny bit of the omitted sentiment on the pink tag, but I’ll clean that up later with a sand eraser). I then added a strip of pretty gold glitter paper and then adhered the paper flowers. My final touch is some gold organza ribbon and twine jute… both from my stash (not included in the kit). Love how these turned out and I sure hope you’ve liked them too!

Be sure to use the hashtag #SFLFOTMexoticanimals when posting your creations using the new August 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit!! I can’t wait to see your creations using this month’s kit!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See ya next time.

      Inky Hugs,

      Crystal

    • Sending a Cuddly Hello with Doodlebug Designs’ Koala Doodle-Pop

Posted at 9:00 am by Kimberly Smith
      Aug 23rd

Hi everyone! Kim here with a cute koala doodle-pop from Doodlebug Designs and a confession…I have a habit of hoarding my doodle-pops! I know, I know they are meant to be used but I sure do love looking through them and sometimes find it hard to use them up. That being said they really do make the cutest addition to cards.

      sflblog8232019b

I started off wanting to create some background paper with the koala stamps from the Hero Arts stamp set Realistic Animals. Using Gina K. Designs Amalgam ink in whisper I stamped the images all over the paper. It looked amazing at first and then once it dried I found that it was super hard to see which completely defeated the purpose. I didn’t want to completely lose the sheet so I decided to use it to frame the koala.

      sflblog8232019

I had some paper in my stash that was covered in leaves and I thought it would be perfect for using as a background. While trimming the paper down the leaves seemed to lend themselves perfectly to being cut out and a few of them popped up with some pop dot pieces. Some cards you may spend quite some time coloring an image or spend some time doing an ink technique or playing with embossing paste but so often when I am using a doodle-pop as a main focus the card comes together so quickly that I find myself looking it over extra long to see what I missed.

      sflblogpost8232019c

QUICK TIP: WHEN USING POP DOTS BE SURE TO USE PARTS OF THE PANEL LEFT BEHIND AFTER USING THE DOTS. THEY CAN BE CUT UP AND USED FOR WHATEVER SIZE YOU MAY NEED!

Also the sentiment that was used on this card came from the Hero Arts stamp set Realistic Animals. I love this little koala’s face so sweet!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you find some time for yourself today.

      Keep on crafting,

      Kim 🙂

    • Hero Arts ~ Fennec the Fox ~ Thanks for Listening

Posted at 9:00 am by Crystal O. Minkler
      Aug 21st

Hello there crafty friends! Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with another card using the fabulous Fennec the Fox by Hero Arts… paired again with the awesome Kraft & Gold cardstock stack by DCWV!! I am loving this gorgeous desert inspired set and I just can’t help but use the kraft papers… it’s a perfect pairing of product!! Say that five times fast!! Lol!

My card design was inspired by a Sketch Saturday sketch from a couple of weeks ago and even though I’d miss the deadline to enter my card in the challenge, I still had to play with this sketch! I trimmed the polka dot foil kraft paper to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ and adhered it a Vintage Cream A2 card base. I then trimmed a piece of Vintage Cream card stock down to 4 x 5-1/4″ and then ran it through my Big Shot with an oval die. I set those aside and then stamped and colored my images.

I used the following Copic markers:

      Fox ~ E0000, E000, E95, E97, E99, R00

      Cactus/Flowers ~ YR09, YR15, YR21, R17, R27, Y06, YG00, YG03, YG63

      Ground ~ E23, E25

How awesome is that foil shining in the background?! Such amazing paper!!

Next, I stamped the sentiment on a strip of kraft card stock from the Kraft & Gold cardstock stack with VersaMark watermark ink and heat embossed a fine white embossing powder. I die cut it with my favorite Everyday Sentiment Banner die by Lawn Fawn.

To finish off my card, I adhered my fussy cut images to the Vintage Cream layer and then I popped up the entire piece on the card using foam squares. I love the dimension the popped up layer gives to the card! The foxes in this beautiful set are so fun to color! I sure hope you’ve enjoyed my card today!

Thanks so much for checking out my DT blog post! See ya next time.

      Inky Hugs,

      Crystal
