    • My Favorite Things Santa & Friends Winter Scene

Posted at 9:00 am by Lynnea Hollendonner
      Nov 30th

Hi, there! I’m on the Scrapping for Less blog today with a product focus for My Favorite Things! I’ll be using the super adorable Santa & Friends stamp set and some masking along with Distress Inking to create a winter scene!

I started by cutting out a circle from some Inkadinkado Masking Paper to create my moon and sky. I used a standard circle stacking die. I aligned the masking paper on my card so that just the circle would be peeking through and used a blending brush and some Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks to create my moon. I used the die cut circle from the masking paper to cover up the inked moon so that I could use different inks for the sky background. I used regular Distress Inks, but I wish I had used the Oxides. I didn’t have a dark enough blue, so I’ll have to pick one up! I used Chipped Sapphire for the blue, darkened the edges with Wilted Violet, and added some Black Soot around the very edges for depth.

I used some white acrylic paint mixed with water to spatter on some snow to my background. I decided to use the flicking technique with an acrylic block – though I’m not sure why. Haha! This was my first time using the block – usually I just mix some onto my work surface and pick it up with a brush and flick. I thought it would be tidier to do it with the block, but as you can see – I need some practice! I got a few big globs of white and not all the drops are completely round – some have tails and have a pointed trajectory. Oh well! I wasn’t about to start over! I never do! I’m a firm believer in Tim Gunn and “making it work”! Haha!

I used the Lawn Fawn Village Border die and cut it from black cardstock and used some yellow cardstock to back the windows and doors to make it look like a city with lights on in the buildings!

I stamped the reindeer from the My Favorite Things Santa & Friends stamp set onto watercolor cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed it with clear powder so that I could do some watercolor. I used my Staedtler felt tipped markers because that’s what I have and what I’m most comfortable with, but I encourage you to use whatever coloring method you like best! I added some color where I wanted it to be the darkest and used a waterbrush to pull out the color.

I stamped my sentiment onto white cardstock and trimmed it down into two strips and adhered them and the reindeer onto my scene with foam tape. Watch the full video below!

    • Peekaboo Reindeer Stuffie

Posted at 3:33 pm by Stacy Tiedemann
      Nov 29th

Hello, it’s Stacy again today from Craftaholicmomma up on the SFL blog.  Today I am sharing a card I made using the Stamping Bella Peekaboo Reindeer Stuffie stamp.  This little guy is so super cute with his tangle of Christmas tree lights and ornaments entwined in his antlers.  I colored him up with my Copic markers, list of colors I used will be below in this post.

I then die cut the panel with my MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle dies to give it a little bit more interest to the simple card.  I used my Uniball Signo Broad White Gel pen to give the look of falling snow all over the panel.  The Nuvo Glitter Accents in Fresh Snowfall to the chimney and roof give it that extra special something with lots of dimension and sparkle.

Stay warm and safe this holiday season,

    • Tinsel in a Tangle Spinner Card

Posted at 2:44 pm by Stacy Tiedemann
      Nov 28th

Hello, It’s Stacy from Craftaholicmomma up on the Scrapping for Less blog today with a super cute spinner card.  The image in the stamp set looks to me like he is wiggling and squirming his way out of a tangled up mess of Christmas lights so I wanted to put some movement into my card to accentuate that.  I choose to do a spinner card where he can spin and wiggle and squirm all he needs to.

I hope you like my card and inspires you to look outside the box and add some movement to your cards.  An action wobble would have worked as well.  I’ll have to try that next time.

Here is a list of products used:

Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# Cardstock

Sugar Pea Designs “Tinsel in a Tangle” stamp set

MFT Candy Land 6x6 paper pad

Uniball Signo Gel Pen in Gold

      Copic Markers:  N6, N4, N2, C00. B24, B28, YR04, YR07, R24, R46 and YG 05

MFT Mini Ink Cube in Red Hot

      MFT Extreme Black Ink

      Versafine Onyx Black Ink

      Hero Arts Infinity Circle Dies

      MFT Scalloped Stitched Circle Dies

Twine, rhinestones and plastic snowflakes from my stash

      Thanks for visiting,

    • November Flavor of the Month Kit – Banana Split Cards

Posted at 9:00 am by Lynnea Hollendonner
      Nov 27th

Hi, everyone! It’s Lynnea and I have a video using the November 2018 Flavor of the Month card kit. The kit is called Sophisticated and Elegant and I’m going to share two cards using the Banana Split level kit – it’s totally worth the upgrade! You’ll get an exclusive Scrapping for Less stamp set, a Sunny Studios die, some gems from Kaiser Craft, and a white gel pen in addition to the four collections you get in the Double Dip subscription! You can’t beat the value! Head over to the Scrapping for Less store to start your subscription!

I used the Puttin’ on the Spritz stamp set from the Banana Split level and stamped the perfume bottle and sentiment in the center of my card. I wanted it to look like the bottle was spraying color, so I added a drop of watercolor near where the spray would originate and blew air through a straw to move the color out. I have to say….it didn’t work. Haha! But I never scrap a card! I used my paintbrush and helped the paint along!

I made two cards – one with yellow and pink and one with mint and blue. I colored the bottles with some gold Gansai Tambi watercolors as well as the regular pan colors. You can use whatever watercolors you have on hand!

I added some watercolor spatters and some pearls that came in the Banana Split level kit to finish off the cards! Watch the full process video below!

    • Merry Christmas from IndigoBlu and SFL

Posted at 12:08 am by LeeAnn McKinney
      Nov 25th

Greetings friends and fellow crafters, LeeAnn here with a brand focus post using IndigoBlu’s “Ickle Christmas Tree“.

I decided to do something different for a change and made an easel card. This card is fairly easy to make, I cut an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of cardstock and cut in half longways to be 4.25″ x 11″. I then used my scoreboard to make it an A2 size card base top folding 4.25″ x 5.5″. I then scored again on one end at 2.75″, this is what makes the easel part. After I made the panel with the Tree, I added this to the lower part of the card base with double stick tape. This allows the card to fold flat for mailing, and rise up for show when it arrives at its destination home.

The wood present is there to stop the top part from sliding closed.

My background paper is from the October FOTM kit, as is the wooden present. I stamped the image using a green dye ink from my stash, and colored the ornaments on the tree using Wink of Stella and Wink of Luna markers in Blue, Maroon and Gold.

The Snowflakes around the tree were stamped also with the green dye ink, and then covered with Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops. The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is from Lawn Fawn’s “Happy Happy Happy” add on stamp set.
